1950s Lips Tutorial With Revlon Fifth Avenue Red

Lips of the Decades is a new series, featuring tutorials on how to recreate the lip trends of each decade of the 20th Century, beginning with the 1920s and concluding with the 1980s.

The ideal 1950s lips followed a woman's natural lip shape, but with the round curves at the top lip. Lipstick was not applied outside of the lip line, nor was it applied on top of the line either. Instead, it was applied inside of the lip line, similar to the 1920s Cupid's Bow lips, except that no exaggerated curves were drawn.

Materials needed:

  • Lip brush
  • Lip balm
  • Lipstick -- I used Revlon's "Fifth Avenue Red
Step 1: Make three marks (notice the round curves) on your upper lip. Be sure to stay inside of the natural lip line and mark along it.

Step 2: Connect the marks, and go around the entire mouth. Do not venture outside of the line, remember! :-)

Step 3: Fill in.

What do you think? Is this a look that you'd be willing to try? Please leave a picture when you do! :-)
Post your answer and if you have a blog -- include a link, too! :-)
