Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation and Golden Lilac Blush Reviews

Okay, so every blogger and her mother have reviewed the two following products by now, but I just have to jump on to the bandwagon, too, in order to see what all of the buzz is about!

Today, I want to talk about Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation, which I received in my Summer US-UK swap, and Bourjois "Golden Lilac" (Lilas D'Or), which was from my Spring US-UK swap.

Prior to testing out Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation, I remember thinking, "What's all of the hoopla about? It's probably another foundation with all of the talk, and none of the action."

Well, I'm happy to let you know that I was completely wrong! This foundation is so natural and long-lasting, that I hope it will stick around for awhile.

My skin type is combination (it used to be very oily), and I find this foundation to be perfect -- neither too moisturizing nor drying. The coverage is medium, but buildable. I'd apply this foundation over my Shiseido Refining Makeup Primer, and it lasts over 12 hours. Now, I am unsure if it really does last 16 hours as the bottle claims, but I haven't been in a situation where I needed to keep my makeup on for that long.

I have also worn it without the primer as well, and it lasted just as long, but my T-zone (forehead, nose, and chin) did get a bit shiny after eight hours. Other than that, the foundation continued to look great as the day wore on.

Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation has a thick, gel-like texture, which explains the pump. However, it feels so light and refreshing once on the skin, that I cannot feel it at all the entire time that I'm wearing it. What I also appreciate about this foundation is that it does not have an SPF, so it photographs beautifully. As far as scent goes, it has a light, pleasant scent that is reminiscent of green tea. If you like your products unscented, no worries; the scent fades away as soon as you've applied the product to your face.

For reference, my shade on the MAC chart is NC20, and the shade that I have here is "Vanilla," a light neutral shade. Bourjois Healthy Mix in "Vanilla" does look a bit more beige-pink in its packaging, but that's because the bottle it comes in has a slightly grayish tint.

I love how it blends so seamlessly into the skin:

Next up is Bourjois "Golden Lilac" blush, one of my favorite blushes of all time!

"Golden Lilac" is a medium-pink shade that is very versatile, suitable on both cool and warm tones. It is buildable, never garish, and just so natural that when I wear it, I can still see my skin, which is how a good blush is supposed to be, in my opinion.

The blush lasts all day, and has a very beautifully pleasant scent of fig and vanilla. I wish there was a perfume that smells like this! It smells so delicious that I have found myself opening up the compact just to inhale the scent deeply.

Speaking of the packaging, it is a round pot compact with a mirror in the lid, has a magnetic closure, and comes with an excellent brush. The brush is well-made and does not shed; it is also not so soft that it can't pick anything up. The bristles have just enough "roughness" to effectively pick up the hard baked product.

And, of course, the finish is extremely natural:

Have you tried Bourjois makeup? Which products are your favorite?

  8. Cool review! I am always on the look out for foundation that will work on my oily/combination skin. I have found long wearing formulas, but I'm still looking for one that is a great mattifier.

    1. I've found that as far as mattifying goes, it's very important on the type of skincare products that you wear, too! I've found that Paula's Choice Hydralight SPF 30 keeps my skin matte for over 10 hours. :o)

  10. I have used both of these and just love the blush range especially as foundations I always find dark for my pale skin so stick to brands I know work :) I like how budget friendly the brand is and the products are great quality!! I always use the blushes and bronzers, they are fab! xx

    1. Awww, yeah, foundations can be so tricky, especially for people who are very pale or very dark. When Bourjois was still available here, it was considered high end! The price point was comparable to MAC. Lol.

    1. Awww...what I do when having to order foundations online, is that I would look for the shades that seem like they'd be close to my skin tone, and then search for swatches on Google Images! Lol.
