July 2014 Ipsy Glam Bag Review

Well, guys and gals, it's that time of the month again!

Yep, time to review my monthly Ipsy Glam Bag!

What is Ipsy? It's a beauty subscription program that costs $10 a month (plus local sales tax) for US residents, and ~$15 for Canadian residents. Each month, subscribers receive a collectible makeup bag, and at least five makeup items that are selected based on their beauty personality test answers (subscribers may re-take the test at any time). The Ipsy Glam Bag contains a combination of full-sized and deluxe-sized beauty products each month. Did I also mention that shipping is 100% free?

Isn't that great?

If you aren't already an Ipsy subscriber, click on THIS LINK to sign up. I would be happy if you use my referral link because I will earn a few points that I can save up for a prize, and so will you!

Here's what I received this month:

1) A hot pink pleather makeup bag.

2) Faith Aromatherapy Body Lotion in "Citrus Ginger": $2. The texture feels very nice and moisturizing, but the scent smells a lot like Band-Aid. Thankfully, it doesn't smell so bad once on the skin, and disappears quickly.

2) Pur-Lisse SPF 30 Pur-Protect: Approximately $15. Deluxe sample-sized. I really like the texture of this. It is non-greasy and is instantly absorbed by the skin. The lotion does have a very light scent, reminiscent of Nivea cream, but it fades within a minute.

3) Elizabeth Mott Tints & Sass Lips and Cheek Stain in "Cherry": $23. Full-sized. Oh, I love this! The stain looks like Benefit's Benetint, but has a pleasant cherry scent. Also, the product comes with a sponge-tipped applicator, instead of an actual brush, so it applies so much more evenly. Did I already mention that I really love this? Yep, it's definitely coming with me everywhere!

4) Bare Minerals 5-in-1 BB Advanced Performance Cream Eyeshadow in "Divine Wine": $6. I'm not sure why they couldn't give this product a shorter name, but I digress. "Divine Wine" is a purplish-taupe shade, completely matte and opaque; what you see in the picture is what you'd get on your skin. The texture is nice and soft; the eyeshadow is smudge-proof and totally opaque. This isn't something that I would wear as an eyeshadow, but it would make a nice eyeliner, I think, if I apply it with a skinny eyeliner brush.

5) Pop Beauty Sunkissed Bronzer in "Secret Sunshine": $10. Full-sized. Oh, this bronzer is absolutely gorgeous! I have to admit, though, I was extremely annoyed when I saw that it had arrived with a chunk of it broken off. The product is still mostly there, and usable, so I won't ask for a replacement, but was so annoying! Okay, back to the product review. It is a medium-dark, brown bronzer that looks shimmery in the compact, but isn't very sparkly once on the skin. This bronzer doesn't look like a product that I would contour with (I prefer to contour with matte bronzers), and I probably won't wear it all over my face either. I suppose that I will use it as an eyeshadow, which means that it will last me for the rest of my life.

As far as texture goes, it's very nice; the texture feels soft and creamy, even though this is a powder product. Lasting power is great, too; it has great longevity and lasts all day, until I remove it.

Total worth of this month's Glam Bag: $56

How much I actually spent: $10.80

Was this month's Ipsy Glam Bag worth it? Absolutely! Month after month, I have been very happy that the people at Ipsy took my preferences (based on the personality test) into consideration. So far, I have not received lipliners, foundations, or nail polishes, which I am very grateful! (Those are the three things that I have no desire to receive in a subscription box, ever. Lol).

Here's a chart of all of the products I could have gotten this month. Thankfully, I received the bag that I did because I loved everything! Once again, I am very impressed that Ipsy consistently took my preferences in consideration each month.
