The Best Winter Skincare Regimen for Dry Skin

Enter my international beauty giveaway HERE!

I had oily skin most of my life, and never thought that it was every going to be dry, but ever since I had my sons, the hormones in my body shifted and there were a lot of changes. I would say that going from oily to dry is a neutral change; it is neither bad nor good, since each skin type has its pros and cons. Personally, I prefer to be on the drier side because my makeup stays fresh for much longer without requiring so many touch-ups during the day.

However, with dry skin, the Winter can make it so dry that it hurts. Thankfully, we are living in 2015 with advanced skincare technologies, so it's not too bad! ;-)

So, here is my Winter 2014/15 skincare regimen. All of these dry skin skincare products are straight from the drugstore, and can be found in most countries.

MORNING: (in the order of application)

  • Cleanse my face with Simple Cleansing Micellar Water: this is the best micellar water I've ever used! The non-oily formula cleans thoroughly yet leaves my skin feeling soft and hydrated.
  • Neutrogena Deep Moisture Day Cream SPF 20: oh, this is my most favorite daytime moisturizer ever. Ever! It is deeply hydrating, yet sinks into the skin, leaving it soft and smooth, perfect for preparing your skin for makeup. I like how it leaves a non-shiny surface as well.
  • Olay Regnerist Regenerating Serum: I started using this serum 10+ years ago, as a teenager, when girls my age usually didn't think about skincare other than maybe the occasional anti-acne product. As a teenager, I liked that it made my skin glow so brightly. Now as an adult (haha...), I love that it makes my scowl lines and other fine lines disappear.
  • L'Oreal Revitalift Miracle Blur Instant Eye Smoother: a friend of mine gave me a Zip Loc bag of sample-sized tubes of these, and I've been using them! While I haven't used this serum long enough to see if there is any long-term result, I like that it does instantly brighten and smooth out the texture of the skin around my eye areas, preparing them for under-eye concealer.
NIGHT: (in the order of application)
  • Cleanse my face with Simple Cleansing Micellar Water.
  • Olay Regenerist Regenerating Serum.
  • L'Oreal Revitalift Miracle Blur Instant Eye Smoother.
  • Eucerin Q10 Anti-Wrinkle Sensitive Skin Creme: ladies (and gents), I have always been a supporter of the belief that the best way to cure wrinkles is to prevent them in the first place, and if you already have a few, you can reduce them while preventing more from developing! This cream is extremely rich, but you will wake up the next morning with soft, non-greasy skin, as the product penetrates into your skin and moisturizes through the night. Also, it provides a barrier between your skin and the drying element, thus replenishing and softening it at the same time.
I have noticed that when these specific products are used together, my skin is much softer, smoother, and firmer. Also, my pores seem to disappear as well, and my makeup looks so much better!

What is your skin type, and what skincare products are you wearing this Winter?

  1. ooo nice picks! I had no idea Simple did a micellar water will have to check that out. My skin can either be dry or oily depending on the season but I can keep it fairly 'normal' with the products I use. Id agree that dry skin is better than oily, fresher makeup and less breakouts although patchy dry skin is a nightmare to cover! x

  2. I love reading about other's skin care regime. I'm also dry skin so this is helpful to me. Like Stacey (the comment above me) I didn't know Simple has a micellar cleansing water. Got to try it!

  4. My skin is very sensitive. I use micellar water and biological skincare day and night :-)
Coco et La vie en rose - Valeria Arizzi

  5. My skin was oilier when I was younger, now that I have gotten older it has dried out a bit. However, along the bridge of my nose is still quite oily. I have been seeing a lot of micellar water lately, I must give it a try.
    Great routine Tammy!

  6. Miceller water seems tempting to try. Does it remove waterproof makeup too?

  7. Awesome regimen! I don't really change my routine throughout the year, but I definitely should. I'm thinking of adding a serum during the winter because my skin gets really really dry.

  8. I really want to try the Simple Cleansing Micellar Water!!! Great post!!

  9. I really want to try the Simple Cleansing Micellar Water!!! Great post!!

  10. Health - Various health issues can affect the ability of the body to care for the skin, which might result in dry skin. Illnesses such as diabetes can mean you are more likely to experience dry skin.
