I have been anticipating Disney's release of the "Cinderella" live action movie since last Summer, so imagine my happiness when I saw a fashion collection at Kohl's, inspired by the movie!
What I appreciate about these dresses and skirts is that they successfully capture the romantic and fantastical spirit of the fairy tale, yet the designs have been adapted to be worn in our everyday lives, instead of looking like Halloween costumes.
There are three different fashion collection inspired by the movie: one for children; one by LC (Lauren Conrad); one by Disney's for Kohl's.
For this blog update, I will review the two latter collections.
First up is the LC collection, which I feel is more formal than the ones by Disney's for Kohl's.
1) The Organza Bow-Back Dress: $80.00, currently on sale for $59.99 + 15% off coupon.
The LC by Lauren Conrad Bow-Back dress is very charming and dainty. In person, the pink version has much more complex and beautiful prints of various colors, making the dress look very dynamic.
2) LC by Lauren Conrad Cinderella Collection Tulle Skirt: $64.00, on sale for $47.99 + 15% off coupon.
These skirts are truly adorable and modernized, yet still successfully capture the spirit of the "Cinderella" movie. The tulle is soft yet sturdy, and is a high-quality material.
3) LC Lauren Conrad Mesh Back Disney Cinderella Dress: $80.00, on sale for $59.99 + 15% off coupon.
Inspired by the butterflies on Cinderella's dress (picture below), the LC Lauren Conrad Cinderella Mesh Back dress has 3-D flower appliques on it, with petals resembling butterfly wings.
This is an extremely beautiful dress, with the mesh giving it an airy effect! However, as you can see, it sits high on the waist, above the natural waist line, even, so it can make the wearer look very pregnant if she isn't slim with a flat abdomen.
The following designs are from Disney, which I believe are for Kohl's only. Personally, I prefer the designs from Disney's more than ones from LC Lauren Conrad, because not only are they very flattering, but they are also proportional to your shape, which means that the waist falls right on your waist, the bust fits right at your bust, etc.
4) Disney's Cinderella Floral Lace Godet Dress: $48.00, on sale for $32.99 + 15% off coupon.
My absolute favorite of the entire collection! This dress comes in blue (shown below), cream (which was what I bought!), and pink (picture unavailable online). The Floral Lace Godet dress is fully lined, with ultra-soft floral lace overlay, along with eyelet lace panels.
On my 5'2" frame, the skirt ends right above the knees.
Here is the cream-colored version that I bought. I plan to wear it with tan leather wedges and a cropped denim jacket!
5) Disney's Cinderella High-Low Dress: $48, on sale for $32.99 + 15% off coupon.
Disney's Cinderella High-Low dress is dreamy, flowy, and gauzy, and it comes with a full slip to wear underneath! The prints on this dress resemble waterpainting, making it look more expensive than it really is. Also, the high-low design gives the illusion of longer legs!
The only issue I have with this dress is that it does have pieces of threads sticking out, which you can trim off. However, that is what I'd expect to find at Forever 21 at a lower price range, not a $48 dress from Kohl's. I do buy and wear clothes from Kohl's, and they are usually very sturdy and well made.
6) Disney's Cinderella Floral High-Low Dress: $48, on sale for $32.99 + 15% off coupon.
The Floral High-Low dress by Disney for Kohl's is similar to the ones above, except that it is longer, has skinny spaghetti straps, and the front of the skirt is actually two pieces of fabric overlapping, resembling flower petals.
The back of the dress is a bit long for petite girls like me, but it is very easy to shorten the dress by either tying up the straps, or holding the back straps together with a ribbon or brooch, creating the racerback style.
I have no complaints about this dress, but once again, there are pieces of threads hanging that will require you to trim off yourself.
