Glamglow Plumprageous Lip Treatment Reviews: Glossy and Matte Formulas

Hello, my beautiful friends!
Can you believe that another week is coming to an end? I still can't believe that it's almost April. Soon, it will be my birthday. Yay! Lol. To be honest, though, after a certain age, birthdays just aren't fun anymore because I've reached all of the important age-related milestones, such as being old enough to have a driver's license, to vote, to drink, to rent a car, etc.

Anyhow, today I want to talk about lip plumping products. Okay, so I don't really have thin lips, but I love the look of pouty lips, so I was curious when I saw that Glamglow had their lip plumper in two different finishes -- glossy and matte.

Naturally, I was very curious because lip plumpers tend to be glossy, in order to trick you into thinking that your lips are fuller, yet this company actually dared to release a matte formula, so I knew that it had to be at least somewhat effective! Needless to say, I was very excited.

Glamglow's Plumprageous Lip Treatments come in sleek, silver metal tubes, like so. They are not plastic tubes that are made to look metallic, but are actually metal. I love the feel of the cold, sleek containers in my hand.

When you twist the tubes open, the applicator wands push upward, resembling syringes; the idea is to make the lip treatments seem like they are clinical products! The handle is the skinny wand.

So, you'd pull out the wand by the skinny end, and are greeted with a silicone-tipped applicator:

To be honest, the silicone-tipped applicator feels awkward and makes it difficult to distribute the product evenly and in a timely manner. I waste more time than necessary just to get the product on to my lips.

I didn't blend the products into my skin here, because I wanted you to see what they look like. In person, the matte formula is actually matte, yet non-drying. The glossy formula is long-lasting, but doesn't feel obnoxious like the other lipglosses from other brands (I'm looking at you, MAC Lipglass).

PROS:
  1. The two different formulas -- matte and glossy -- provide you with more options. You can now wear your matte lipsticks with a lip plumper!
  2. The matte formula makes a wonderful lip primer.
  3. They are effective! However, you won't see the result immediately. Wait for 30 minutes, and then look in the mirror. Also, you will see the plumping effect so much better when you apply some lipstick afterward.
  4. Glamglow Plumrageous Lip Treatments do plump up your lips by plumping up all of the lines on your lips, creating a smoother, fuller pout.
CONS:
  1. These products are pepper-based, so the sensation that you get is a burning one, instead of cooling like other menthol-based lip plumping products. This can be unpleasant for some people.
  2. These products do feel painful, so whether you can tolerate the pepper burn or not is dependent on your pain tolerance level. For me, the first few times were the worst, but now I don't find it painful anymore, although I do feel the pepper burn every time.
  3. When you lick your lips, you will taste the pepper burn on your tongue, as well.
  4. If you hate spicy food, you probably won't enjoy using these products.
  5. They plump up your lips by plumping up the lines, not by inflating your lips, although I don't think anybody should expect the latter to occur with any topical lip product.
CONCLUSION: If you want to just smooth out your lips and plump up the fine lines on them, these products are super effective. If you want Kylie Jenner's lips, then you're going to have to do what she does -- get lip injections. Expecting a topical lip treatment to do what only lip injections can do, is as unrealistic as expecting a mascara to provide the results that only false lashes can.

ADVICE: When applying the product, go outside of your lip line for a bit, so every area of your lips will be plump!

WOULD I REPURCHASE? Yes!

Do you use a lip plumper? Which is your favorite?

  4. Nice review! By the way, I feel just like you about birthdays :) Though mine this year was very nice, then it's an advantage, a nice surprise :) Hope you have a nice b-day! I am finally back after a long trip and got a bug - feeling weak now, but being in bed is also nice sometimes :) I loved your review and I never saw a plump lip product that is matte - and as you said, can be used as a primer. But as you also said, I can't eat spicy food, so this product is not for me, but nice to know about it and that it is effective when so many claim the same and are not! Happy Easter!

  5. I saw a review on this that stated it stings like crazy! Makes me really afraid of purchasing it. That being said, I am lucky to have a good size lips so I have no need for lip plumper.

    1. Hell, yeah, it stings! Lol. But you do develop a tolerance for it after a few times. I have decently sized lips, too, but I'm greedy and want to maximize what I have. :-P

  10. So interesting product! I'd try a matte formula and I can't find a decent product for it here, in our country. And of course I love a glossy formula, I usually wear this variant. Don't think that pepper taste will be scary for my)) So I'll buy this product if I see it in the shop.

    1. I understand; Glamglow can be so difficult to find outside of North America and a few European countries.
