UNBIASED Review: Does the Younique Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes Mascara Work?

If you're like me, you've been seeing Younique's Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes mascara system all over the internet ever since 2013. And, if you're like me, you might have been either curious or horrified by the before-and-after pictures posted by women with clumpy, spider-like eyelashes.

Before we go any further, let me tell you one thing: those women with horrible eyelashes did not know how to apply the mascara properly, and used a very heavy hand. I sincerely believe that it was due to user error. However, I've gotten a bit ahead of myself here, so let's back up a little.

Last week, I shelled out $35 ($29 for the mascara system + $6 shipping) of my own money for the mascara system, and I have to tell you, it was the best decision that I have ever made. The mascara system is extremely easy to use, and definitely gives me the desired results every time.

The version that I bought is the newest one, and arrived like this: it arrived with a Transplanting Gel, and a tube of fiber.

The Transplanting Gel is just a tinted gel that you'd apply to your eyelashes before applying the fiber. Honestly, even alone, the gel would make an excellent lengthening mascara.

While the Transplanting Gel is still wet, you'd apply the fiber over it. However, press the fiber against the back of your hand first, in order to prevent fallouts. If you want length only, apply to the tips of your eyelashes. If you want length and volume, apply over the entire eyelashes, but with a light hand! Remember, you can build it up easily, so there is no need to over-do it.

After you have applied the fiber, seal it with the Transplanting Gel again. If you'd like to add more fiber, do so while the gel is still wet, and then seal again. Remember to seal the fiber each time before adding more! Also, I'd highly recommend combing your eyelashes in between, and after you're done.

So, does the mascara system work? YES!

Let me give you my eyelashes profile: They are very short, sparse, straight, and they do not hold a curl, ever. Mascaras are useless on me, and they don't change how my eyelashes look (I tried everything, from drugstore to high-end, trust me; I had access to every mascara available in North America due to my former profession).

Lastly, I have heavy hooded eyelids -- so hooded that people think that they are monolids, but they are not. My hooded eyelids are so heavy that they push down on my natural lashes, causing them to look even shorter. So, the fact that just one application of the Younique Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes system could make my nearly non-existent eyelashes look impressive should tell you something!

Honestly, I love this mascara system because it makes me feel good about myself. I will repurchase this forever, and honestly have no desire to try anything else! It's that amazing!

Cost: $29

Where to buy: I bought mine from my Younique consultant -- Vanessa, whom I highly recommend due to her expertise, and quick response! If you have any questions, you should definitely get in touch with her! I have not been compensated in any way for this blog post, neither by Younique nor its consultant.

  1. This is an amazing review! And the before and after picture, even wearing Nars mascara, says it all! I noticed that you don't have a monolid, and I am amazed by the results of this great mascara! I never tried it, and I like mascaras. I wear Hypnose DRama by Lancome, and I am fine with that, but I have "good lashes". But this mascara is way better than any other, I want to try it!

  5. Thank you for an honest review! I was curious about this but frankly the price is just way too much. And about those spidery lashes, I too believe it's user error and some probably are smear campaigns.
