Scented Sunday: Le Labo Santal 33 Review; Unbox With Me!

Happy Sunday!

For this week's edition of Scented Sunday, I want to review the most popular perfume right now--Le Labo's Santal 33.

A few days ago, I placed an order for the perfume from Nordstrom's website. I was going to order it directly from Le Labo because I would have gotten a customized label with my name on it, but ended up ordering it from Nordstrom instead because I had $20 in store credit there.

Anyhow, Santal 33 arrived like this:

When I opened it, I was greeted with a little note. I won't share its content here, since I don't want to ruin the surprise for you when you get a Le Labo perfume of your own!

Nestled in the box was a bottle of my beautiful perfume!

There is a reason why this perfume has been so popular in all major American cities for the last few years! Santal 33 is a gender-less perfume blend of sandalwood, papyrus, iris, amber, cardamom, Virginia cedar, violet, and leather. The result is a powdery-woodsy blend that is really attractive and unique. No fruity notes, no gourmand notes like vanilla or caramel, no traditional floral notes like rose or jasmine (although they are very lovely). Santal 33 is just such a beguiling, nontraditional scent that is equally attractive on men and women.

There is also a slightly cucumber-like quality to this perfume, which I think is from the green papyrus note. It smells so good! Some people complain that this note smells like dill pickle on them, but I haven't had this issue so far. It just smells like sweet green cucumber to me, before the sandalwood note enters and balances it out.

The lasting power is great, too; it's not a loud perfume that would distract others, but it is distinctive enough to garner some positive comments.

Although I love Santal 33, it is a polarizing perfume--people either love or hate it on themselves; for that reason, I recommend that you sample it first.

I also received 29 perfume samples! 26 were from a gift set that my order qualified for, while 3 were what I was able to choose with my beauty purchase.

Have you tried Le Labo's scents?
If you have a blog, feel free to leave a link; I'd love to visit!

  2. Oh, I need this perfume! Because you said that it's hate or love - well, normally perfumes that people hate, I love. And the contrary too. Santal 22 being genderless is also something good for me, and sandalwood and leather, something that I love! Good lasting power, also great. And I am curious about the note, but I will try to get it :) Hope you have a great week!
